Tropical Getaway to North Captiva in 5 Easy Steps

Whether you’re curious about the state of the island after a hurricane or wondering what activities are available to you while you’re there, this is the perfect place to start! Once you decide to vacation on North Captiva Island, follow these steps to finalize your trip to paradise.

Step 1:

Find the vacation rental that best fits your needs and travel dates on North Captiva Island.

Here are some helpful sites to get you started:

Step 2:

Select an airline carrier, airport, and dates for your trip that work best for you.

I prefer to fly into RSW in Fort Meyers, FL.

Step 3:

Book your ferry ride! Check your rental property details to find out if your home is in the Safety Harbor Association or in the Island Club of North Captiva Association because that will determine which ferry provider to hire.

Step 4:

Once you schedule your flight, book your taxi ride from the airport to Pineland Marina (if you’re staying in the Safety Harbor Association) or Pine Island (if you’re staying in the Island Club of North Captiva Association).

If you need to pick up your grocery order (the island does NOT have a grocery store), schedule a stop on the way to the marina/ferry. If you hire a personal shopper, head straight to the ferry of your choice and avoid having to transport your groceries.

Step 5:

Be aware that there are no grocery stores on the island. You will need to plan ahead and order groceries that need to eventually be delivered via ferry to either the ICNC or Safety Harbor dock (depending on which association your rental is in.)

If you order from a local grocery store or through InstaCart for you to pick up and transfer to your ferry, make sure to mark food items that need to stay cold or frozen as BOAT READY. The local grocery stores in Cape Coral do this all the time and know exactly what this means.

The closest full-service grocery store to the Pine Island Marina is the Publix Super Market at Coral Shores, located at 3015 SW Pine Island Rd, Cape Coral, FL 33991 239-282-5515.

If you don’t mind paying a small extra fee on top of your grocery order, you can hire an amazing personal shopper (Bryan Moistner) to pick up your groceries and have them delivered directly to the Safety Harbor dock on North Captiva Island (easily accessible even if you’re staying in the ICNC association.) I would highly recommend this option! Avoid stopping for groceries and have your taxi service take you directly to Pineland Marina or the Pine Island ferry. You can also contact Bryan while you’re on the island if you forgot any grocery items or need extra items to be delivered to you. Bryan is extremely helpful and responds quickly.

That’s it!

All that’s left is for you to board your ferry and relax! Your property manager should give you the details on what to do to kick off your vacation once you dock at North Captiva Island!

If your rental property did not include a golf cart as part of your stay (there are no cars on the island), make sure to reserve a golf cart well in advance from Boats and Fun, located in the ICNC Association.
